Jaded Rediscovering Hope in Reality

Overview

All of us have experienced some level of pain when our idealism about life intersects with harsh reality. The collision leaves many young adults wounded and jaded, facing life with bitterness and cynicism rather than hope in God. Author Mike Harder knows what it’s like to get caught in the cycle of cynicism all too well, but he also knows what it’s like to find refuge in hope at the other end.

Jaded offers a safe environment for vulnerable sharing as young adults learn the truth about idealism vs. reality, identify pain from past emotional and spiritual wounding, recognize how God can use that pain to move us closer to Him, choose hope in Christ rather than bitterness, and ultimately discover how to become a giver of hope to others. There is renewed optimism for the idealist and healing for the cynic. This five-session Bible study will encourage your group to re-engage God, life, and reality as, together, you search for the hope that’s waiting for you.

Mike Harder

Mike Harder is a normal guy who has been blessed with the opportunity to serve God with his life. He grew up as a missionary kid in Bogota, Colombia, and got his Master of Divinity from Mid-America Seminary in Memphis. Currently he is starting a new church in Nashville, Tennessee, called Green Hills Church that is targeting young adults in their 20s and 30s who are non-religious and far from God. He has authored two studies from LifeWay: In Transit: What Do You Do with Your Wait? and Jaded: Rediscovering Hope in Reality. He is passionate about serving God, great music (Snow Patrol anyone?), wakeboarding, and basketball.
