The Holy Spirit’s Touch
Editor’s Note: Continuing on with our Week of Gratitude, here’s Robby Hyche’s description of why he is thankful for First Baptist Church Trussville, Alabama.
After Tracey and I married, we moved to another town. We struggled with the difficulties of being in a new place, and at the same time, we began to contend with infertility. On top of all that, we had a hard time finding a church. We desperately needed a touch from God.
Then it was time to move again.
As a result of the first move, we learned an important lesson: This time, we looked for a church home before we bought a house. After visiting First Baptist Church Trussville, Tracey and I left in tears—tears of joy. We knew we were home. That afternoon we began looking for a place to live near our spiritual home.
There were many things that made us believe FBC Trussville was our church home: the older gentleman who greeted us; the pastors who obviously worked to remember our names; but mostly it was the unique sense of the Holy Spirit’s presence. When you’ve been without it, you never want to live that way again. We’ve been here since 1999, and I love the church so much that I now serve on its staff. The people here continue to teach me how to serve. It’s not perfect, but it’s ours. Does your church feel like home?

That’s such a good word to remember! Find the church then plant yourself and family (if applicable) in the community. I am confident that FBC Trussville is a great place to grow and serve because of people like you! Thank you for being sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit, and thank you for sharing this today!
