Thankful for Honest Pastors
Editor’s Note: Sandi Starnes wrote our second winning Thanksgiving post. Read what she has to say about why the church plant she’s a part of, Arrowhead Church in Morristown, Tennessee, fills her with gratitude.
Church has always been my second home. Having grown up as a pastor’s kid, I’ve developed a love for the body of Christ and its leadership. As a 25-year-old, I’m now involved in a 10-month-old church start in my city. I couldn’t be more excited about what God is doing in our community through the leadership and its faithful gathering.
What I have been impressed with and most grateful for concerning this body is the honesty of our pastor. He includes us all in his dreams and plans for the church and expresses that it’s through our obedience to and unity in Christ that we’ll see a difference in the lives of the hopeless in our city. The pastor encourages us to work hard at playing an active role in our community as a church and individually, not for church promotion, but to point others to Christ. As a church, our goal is not to impress ourselves with the amount of seats filled each Sunday. Our responsibility, rather, is to demonstrate a life filled with hope in Christ and to give it away to those who have none.
