How will you change the world in 2009?

by Jenny Williams on January 12, 2009

I recently “friended” Ryan Mifflin on Facebook. Ryan invited me to join the Dirty Roots Revolution, a brand new online community that believes one person CAN change the world. The website is bringing people together to dialog, debate, brainstorm and share ideas of how we can make a difference in our communities and the world. Ryan wrote, “One might argue that we are idealistic and naïve. I’m OK with that. I’m just done not doing anything.” The Dirty Roots Revolution attempts to get back to the roots of American activism and the community of the early church (see Acts 2). What better New Year’s resolution than to stop doing nothing? It’s great to dialog and debate about the world’s poverty issues, but taking action is really what matters. Here’s my New Year’s resolution—”In 2009…I will expect the moments God gives me to help someone in need, and I won’t let my busy life or selfish tendencies get in the way of doing what’s right”. What’s your resolution?
