Present Tense: Living In the Here & Now
I like to write about the story of God’s redemption of the world—which is certainly drama—but I often struggle to keep it in present tense. The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus can seem like historical events. I celebrate them, but I tend to keep them in the past nonetheless.

I don’t want to be the person who breezes through life, concerned only with my own selfish desires. I long to be in tune with the needs of others and to serve the community in which I live, yet I often find myself stuck somewhere between functional and ordinary. The answer is simple: engage.
When In Rome…
They found us, without fail, in every town. Cooling ourselves with water from the Trevi Fountain, circling the Coliseum, wandering the cobbled streets of Florence, standing in the wings of vast cathedrals and baptisteries… they found us. Our tour guide glibly called them gypsies.
