Resources for Ingesting the Gospel by Jared C. Wilson
The key to fruitful and enduring discipleship is dwelling in the gospel daily. If you enjoy using devotional resources in your quiet time or Bible study, here are a few resources.
Comforts from the Cross by Elyse Fitzpatrick (Crossway, 2009) A collection of 31 daily devotions focused on helping the reader be awestruck and comforted by the gospel.
The Valley of Vision edited by Arthur Bennett (Banner of Truth Trust, 1997) This collection of Puritan prayers and devotions reads like rich poetry. Beautifully written and lovingly focused, this book has almost every spiritual topic you can think of bathed in the gospel.
A Gospel Primer for Christians by Milton Vincent (Focus, 2008) This great little book features brief readings to help readers learn to see the glories of God’s love.
“Of First Importance” (www.firstimportance.org) This blog is a beauty. Every day it features a wonderful gospel-centered quote or passage from a Christian writer or thinker, old and new.
See Jared’s article “Spiritual Growth: A Fresh Start with God” in the Spring 2011 *Collegiate* for more ideas on genuinely seeking a better relationship with God.
