Name it and claim it January 2009 edition…

by Heather Manning on January 12, 2009

Okay people. It’s January and I need some things to look forward to in order to make it through this month. To that end I have begun compiling a list of little and big things that are keeping me moving forward on the conveyor belt of life. (Please feel free to make additions.)

New Perspectives List

(*Disclaimer- if you are the type of person who doesn’t own a TV…well you are a better person than me and should begin your own list rather than reading mine.)

  1. My new best friend Liz Lemon is back every Thursday this month on 30 Rock.
  2. Oscar nominations are announced Jan. 22nd. (I got five on Slumdog Millionaire. Whose with me?)
  3. LOST is back with a vengeance on Jan. 21st. Hawaii, here we come. Thanks, J.J.!
  4. The Presidential Inauguration January 20th. Yes it’s historic but it will also be entertaining. Elvis Costello, Sting, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder and Bab’s are all scheduled to appear. And then there’s the Urban Ball hosted by Ludacris and Outkast. I want to see that!
  5. Courtney Cox is guest staring on Scrubs all month. I don’t remember Monica going to Med School, but I’ll turn a blind eye.
  6. At low points I am watching Justin Timberlake’s appearance as Beyonce’s backup dancer for “All the Single Ladies” on SNL. Google it.
  7. My January playlist is full of things to encourage spontaneous dancing and laughter (including the aforementioned “All the Single Ladies” and “Heartless” by Kanye West). Cut me a break—January calls for joy in the small things.
  8. I have a Snuggie on the way to the house now to keep me warm on the couch or in the office.
  9. And I think I might also order one of these.

As our friends in HSM have taught us, we’re all in this together. Now it’s your turn. What would you add?

Tony Almeida has been resurrected from the dead on Twenty Four. Does that qualify?

Of coarse! Almost anything qualifies in the face of six hours of daylight. I am considering adding bowling night and laser tag myself

Heather, please promise me 2 things..

  1. You will never, never, EVER wear the Snuggie to the office.

  2. You will look just as euphoric to be wearing your Snuggie as the actors in the infomercial look…and should you ever go back to the old-school style of blanketry, you will be as baffled and confused with what to do with your hands as said actors (uh, IN THE COMFORT OF YOUR OWN HOME…did I mention that already?)

Let me begin by says…I am totally jealous of the snuggie. January things I look forward to…even though it’s almost over…February is just as cold and lonely! 1. Spending some quality time with my Wii Fit which I just bought…I know finally found one…the Christmas rush has died 2. Sledding and skiing whenever possible…i love living in upstate and being able to speak the sentence…”hey we got fresh powder today…wanna hit the mountain” 3. Target puts out all the cute valentine’s day related items…gotta love the pink and red hearts on everything!
