JJ Abrams and the Mystery Box

by Heather Wetherington on January 22, 2008

There are few television writers or producers that I love more than JJ Abrams. Not only is he one of the great minds behind the infuriating show LOST but he also created Alias and Felicity. (Yes, I just said Felicity- He might not be willing to tout this as one of his great accomplishments but I know many a girl in her twenties who would). In a talk at the TED Conference (Technology, Entertainment, Design), he was challenged to give the talk of his life and what do you think the creator of a magic island talked about? Take a look and let me know what you think?

What are we waiting for?

Let’s find creative ways to pass the “Mystery” of possibility, hope, and potential on to the world!

“With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matt. 19:26

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Col. 4:13

Thanks for sharing this, Heather!

Fantastic. Who knew JJ Abrams was also an engaging speaker?

There’s so much to say about what he said, but I love his comments on the nature of creativity, that everything is now a clean slate. Write. Paint. Create. Imagine. This, in my opinion, is one of the great things about cultural trends today, that we are beginning to understand what Einstein said half a century ago: Imagination is more important than knowledge. Maybe not more, Al, but at least as important.
