Good News from Threads

by Jim Johnston on January 31, 2008

It’s a rainy, cold, gloomy winter’s day here in Nashville, so I feel it is my responsibility to give you a dose of good news today.

First, Threads and Adam Thomason, the Director of Spiritual Life at Crichton College, are going to be working to be working on a Bible study project called The Red Revolution.

Adam’s message is about racial reconciliation and the need for God’s people to take the lead in healing the wounds of racism that are still open and bleeding throughout our nation and our world. Adam’s message is we are neither white, black, Hispanic or Asian, but instead we are all red because we are saved by the blood of Jesus Christ.

The key verse of the Red Revolution message is I Peter 2:9-10, which says: “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the One who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”

Several members of our team went to Memphis on Oct. 20, 2007 for the first Red Revolution event, and about 800 people came to hear a compelling message told through video, hip-hop and rock and the spoken word. Adam’s partners in spreading this message, hip-hop artists LeCrae, Trip Lee, Sho Baraka and Tedashii, and Reach Records president Ben Washer did a great job putting the night together and energizing everyone with Adam’s passion for this cause.

We are hoping you will be reading, hearing and seeing Adam’s message in the fall of this year from Threads. It looks like the Red Revolution site is temporarily down, but you can see some pictures from the October event and a blog about it here.

Second, our friend and Threads author Mike Harder’s church plant, Green Hills Church, is going to be launching Feb. 10 here in Nashville. You can read all about it on the church site.

And finally, today is the first anniversary of our Threads studies releasing. Coincidentally, our first study was Mike Harder’s InTransit, which has been a meaningful study for many of you.

We are grateful to God for the ministry He has given us, and we are grateful to you, our friends, for supporting this ministry.

Congratulations on the first anniversary of Threads studies. I am new to this site and Threads studies via the LifeMatters Bible Study material being used in our church since the beginning of November. I praise God for your ministry.
