Getting Ready for a New Year
I’m sitting at my desk, in the unnatural quiet of a holiday workplace - which means the place is deserted, and I’m wondering why I didn’t take more vacation days myself! But, it’s a great time to catch up on ‘cleaning house’, physically and mentally, so that I can start the New Year free of clutter.
I’ve been in Nashville a little over a year, and much of the past year has been spent settling in, one way or another. Now that I’ve been settled for a few months, I’m getting restless to pursue some of the interests that have been forced to lie dormant while I worked on other priorities. So, I’m gearing up to register for a painting or drawing class at The Art House Nashville. Which do you think I should take - Happy Hour Drawing or Oil Painting for Dummies? I love the sound of the classes, don’t you?
I’m also poised to call a riding stable near my house to arrange to see a horse riding lesson. I had to stop riding lessons when I moved to Nashville, after a short 6 month stint of taking them, and wanting to learn riding my entire life. It’s definitely time to start back up - as long as the weather is bearable! I’m still trying to decide if I should go with English or Western style…
Finally, I’m figuring out when to drop my car off for a major service overhaul. It has been sadly neglected and has been running sluggishly for way too long. It’ll be like getting a new car when the various services are complete, albeit without a new paint job.
I hope you are having fun figuring out which interests and dreams to pursue this spring, and which big to do’s to knock off your 2007 list. I’ll try to keep you posted about the classes I’m taking if there’s anything worth sharing! Happy New Year!
