Anyone Else LOST?
I couldn’t get it done last night. Each Wednesday, I tune in to ABC to see whether or not those castaways finally created a coconut radio to get off their island, and each week I am continually disappointed. I’m not disappointed that they can’t get off the island; I’m disappointed because I feel like to watch this show I need a pad and pen in front of me with a reference guide so that I can look up what picture was tattooed on the whale’s back in episode 17 and how that relates to the stick figure on the cave wall in episode 82. What?!?!?
Don’t get me wrong, I still watch, but it’s hard to call some “entertainment” that you have to be so intellectually invested in. Some nights I just don’t think I can handle one more plot twist or one more crazy flashback or one more encounter with a polar bear/ smoke beast / dinosaur. This is where I think the “Lost” guys have missed the boat. They have dispensed too much information without drawing any conclusions. Instead of narrowing the sphere, the cirlce just keeps getting wider and wider. That’s okay for a while, but throw me a bone! I need some answers. Heck, I’d settle for “an” answer. Just tell me what the deal is with that freaky kid named Walt.
Heroes—now there’s a show that’s learned from this mistake. They introduce a question, and they answer the question - at least in part. At least in a way to satisfy some of their fans. Unfortunately for me, it seems like I will have to wait until the end of time to know whether or not Hurley actually spent time in a mental hospital with that psychologist lady who died. See what I mean? Where’s an episode of “Bosom Buddies” when you need it?

I love this show! To me, the mystery, the big questions with little answers, the fact that I’m what, four seasons now (?), into this thing and I still don’t know what the heck is going on - that’s what makes this such great television. Maybe I’m still recovering from the ‘world in a box,’ ‘solve all of life’s problems in thirty minutes’ sitcoms of my upbringing. This is, in my opinion, the smartest show on TV. The fact that they include things like a tatto on a whale and other things only completely anal Lost addicts would catch on their TiVos make this show unlike any other. Sorry - I’m a Lostie at heart, I guess.

Come guys, what more can you ask for? We found out how Lock ended up in the wheelchair just two weeks ago. Actually, Lost and I had a bit of spat earlier this season and I took it off my VCR recording list (yep the video girl doesn’t have a DVR or TiVO). However, in the last few episodes I have caught-on real television with commercials-they have me thinking the writers/producers might be getting their act together again. But regardless-no matter how much new information they throw at me I can’t wait to find out about Hurley in the mental institute with the dead girl.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t watch Lost; I’m not saying you shouldn’t enjoy Lost. I’m not saying you shouldn’t log onto crazed fan sites and post your own unbelievably wild adaptation of where the show is heading. I am saying that we all - frustrated and non-frustrated fans alike - must band together (for we can either live together or die alone) and make sure that this is going somewhere… lest the same fate befall Jack, Kate and Sawyer that fell to Sydney Bristow and the unfortunate demise of Alias.
Petition is in my office.

Oddly enough, the same creators of LOST created Alias.
