Ahhh, The Fun is Over
Let’s look over the last three days, shall we:
Wednesday:
- It was 28 degrees and we stood in the snow for three hours whilst watching Mike Hurt walk back and forth. Don’t get me wrong it was probably the highlight of my trip (there was a moment when I twirled around like Mary Tyler Moore). The snow was beautiful and Mike was a trooper. He started the day without a coat which meant he had to finish that way.
- Interviewed a young adult for our upcoming study on God’s Will and actually got him to do a snow angel for a photo.
- Tried to do our first podcast and broke Bobby’s equipment. Yep, we brought down a whole Mac computer - which is saying something since Mac’s are virtually bullet-proof.
Thursday:
- Sweet-talked our way into taking pictures in a movie theater
- Got about one bizillion photographs of upcoming author Mark Batterson. (This is will prove very beneficial for all those viewing him on MySpace.)
- Interviewed another young adult for the study on God’s Will in 5-minute bursts. (Why 5-minute bursts? See the note on breaking Bobby’s computer.)
- Interviewed Mike Hurt and discovered just how much we enjoyed hanging out with him. It really took us every bit of self control not to ask him to come back to Nashville with us.
- Medicated and cared for Micah (our photographer) who had a serious case of jet lag. (Now to clarify - he had just got back from Israel… it wasn’t the flight from Nashville to Washington DC that did him in.)
- Managed not to hit 3 pedestrians with the rental car. (We actually managed not to hit thousands but we figure it was the close calls that really count.)
- Went out to a steak dinner to celebrate Josh and my 4 year wedding anniversary. I called him from the restaurant to let him know how I was celebrating… he was giving the dog a bath.
Friday:
- Successfully rode the Metro as a group
- Spent the better part of the day meeting with Mark Batterson, planning our Bible study about facing fears.
- Successfully rode the Metro back to the hotel without Heather getting arrested. (There was a little mix up at the ticket taker and there were alarms - but you’ll have to ask her about it.)
- Discovered that the “never lost navigation wizard” will find the closest gas station.
- Delivered everyone to the airport safely.
Really, this was a trip that was filled with too many things to accomplish, and I can assuredly say we got most of them done. Now we can rest and then get up on Monday and start work all over again.

I’m glad to hear Micah wasn’t that jetlagged from going over the Mason Dixon line! I can’t wait to hear about Heather’s run in with the metro detectives - why am I not surprised it was her? And I’m really excited to one day meet Mr. Hurt myself, since he was such a hit! You guys have all the fun.
