The Threads Blog
What better time to revisit the basics of the gospel than the month of Easter? During the month of Easter our LifeMatters lessons will focus on five fundamental truths of the gospel. In anticipation of Resurrection Sunday, this week’s study examines the crucifixion and what Jesus accomplished by dying for our sins.
This week’s lesson is about giving thanks to God, and the study is rooted in Psalm 107. As we study this psalm, we’ll come to better understand how we’re to worship God by giving thanks.
Abraham, Jacob, and Joseph. As the main characters in the Book of Genesis, many of us have been hearing stories about these men ever since we were children. The problem is, such stories are usually broken up into isolated fragments: Abraham on Mount Moriah, Jacob wrestling with God, Joseph and his many-colored coat. When we dig deeper, we see that these men are part of a single, seamless story—one that stretches from the first page of the Bible to the last.
This week our Bible study takes us to Psalm 92, a psalm of praise about God’s goodness, love, faithfulness, and provision. Think about everything in our lives that we have cause to celebrate God for. Do these things move us to worship Him?
As we continue our study of worship this week, we come to Psalm 86, which highlights God’s desire for us to call out to Him in prayer.
