Collegiate: Better than Ezra State of Mind

by Heather Wetherington on April 22, 2009

My name is Heather and among my distinctions is the title of graphic designer for Collegiate magazine. On a daily basis that could mean anything from convincing my coworkers to wear goggles and silly hats for a photo shoot or going to BeachReach to meet my new best friends from Hannibal-LaGrange College. (Long live Chuck Norris!) I love my job!

LifeMatters: Surprised by an Old Lady

by Chad Jordan on April 16, 2009

I’m one of those guys who draws conclusions about things way too quickly. In fact, it gets me in trouble so often that I’m really trying to wait and gather all the facts or listen to the full sentence before I assume I know where things are headed. Usually, when my wife begins to say something, I immediately assume halfway in that I know where she’s going, so I check out mentally. Then when my assumption is wrong, it’s bad news for me. Having two little girls in my house now means I have a lot more listening and a lot less jumping the gun to do. I’m going to need some prayer …

LifeMatters: What are you going to do with your cross?

by Chad Jordan on April 03, 2009

In Luke 23, we find two criminals who had a lot in common, but who made very different decisions in one brief moment that impacted their eternities. It was a day of incredible significance to them, and not because it would be the last day of their lives, but because it was the day they met Jesus. Certainly their circumstances at the time of meeting Jesus are not enviable, but we all meet Jesus in different places in our lives. For them, it was on the cross. Two criminals, same place in life, similar backgrounds, one Savior, different responses.

Collegiate: Keeping a Foot in That World

by Laura Magness on April 03, 2009

Personally, I loved college. Nothing beats spending every minute of every day with your best friends while living a pseudo-grown up life. Working on the Collegiate team allows me to keep a foot in that world, which is a lot of fun (especially for a j.o.b.). Like Lindsey said, we’d love to hear from you about things you’d like us to cover in the magazine—everything from the issues you deal with each day, to the musicians and movies that you’re really into right now, or the places you love to travel to. And leaders, let us know what other things we can provide to better help you facilitate your group times. Looking forward to hearing from you and hope you’re enjoying the Spring Collegiate!
